Male gynecomastia is a condition that affects more than a third of the world’s total male population. From there, we are looking forward to discuss more on gynaecomastia surgery. There are thousands of customers in Malaysia who were satisfied by this operation and it’s permanent results. But the questions we are answering here is what is it? medical limits? down time? best pricing? available appointments?
What is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a medical condition in which men overdevelop breast tissue or have enlarged breasts. This condition can be socially and psychologically disconcerting, yet it is relatively common. Gynecomastia can be the result of excess skin, fat, or breast tissue. It can occur at any age and is often a result of hormonal changes, heredity, obesity, or the use of certain drugs.
Mild cases of gynecomastia are corrected with liposuction. Small incisions are made surrounding the areola where suction tubes (cannulas) are inserted to extract fat and breast tissues. When the enlargement is severe, a longer incision is done to excise breast tissues and loose skin. Skin tightening may also be incorporated and the nipples repositioned so that they are proportional to the new chest shape.
WHEN TO DECIDE THAT YOU NEED Gynecomastia Surgery?
- Grade I Small breast enlargement with localized button of tissue that is concentrated around the areola.
- Grade II Moderate breast enlargement exceeding areola boundaries with edges that are indistinct from the chest.
- Grade III Moderate breast enlargement exceeding areola boundaries with edges that are distinct from the chest with skin redundancy present.
- Grade IV Marked breast enlargement with skin redundancy and feminization of the breast.
ON WHAT BASIS DO PLASTIC SURGEONS DECIDE YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR Gynecomastia Surgery?
The surgical treatment of gynecomastia has two objectives:
1- Reconstruction of the male chest contour.
2- Histological clarification of suspicious breast lesions.
The age of the patient, consistency, grade, and the presence of unilateral or bilateral breast development determine the indication for surgery. Prior to surgical consult, the gynecomastia patient should undergo a complete history and physical exam and appropriate diagnostic testing to determine the underlying cause of the gynecomastia.

WHAT RESULTS SHOULD YOU EXPECT?
Every patient is different, but most men notice improvement immediately after a male breast reduction procedure and continue to see improve as the area heals over the course of a few weeks. The precise healing time may vary and will depend on the technique used. To help facilitate healing, a compression garment is generally worn for a few days. How to prepare before Gynecomastia Surgery?
Before surgery we recommend a well balanced high protein diet, multivitamins and avoid dehydration. Stop aspirin and similar drugs 2 weeks before surgery. Nothing else particularly special.
During the examination, your breast width, height, and nipple position will be measured. Any differences in the breasts from left to right will be evaluated. You will have the opportunity to point out particular characteristics of your anatomy that you would like to improve or change.
Anesthesia: Male breast reduction surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia in a comfortable, relaxing setting while watching Netflix videos. For severe cases of gynecomastia, surgery is performed under general anesthesia in a Medicare accredited outpatient facility..
Length of procedure: 1 to 2.5 hours, depending on the extent of the problem.
Gynecomastia RECOVERY – After Care
Rest is recommended after surgery. At home, you will have medications to ease the pain. We also prescribe antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. Surgical vitamins, arnica, and bromelain are used to reduce the swelling and bruising, and to speed your recovery.
We will see you in the office the day after surgery. By the fourth or fifth day, the discomfort should be significantly reduced. At one week, you will return for the last review. By this time, you should be feeling well enough to be back to most of your normal activities. You should be back to work within this first week.
A compression garment must be worn for about 2 weeks to help with reshaping and healing. In this period, must avoid any strenuous physical activities, especially ones that will put pressure on the chest. Results are generally satisfactory with patients regaining their confidence in situations where their chests are bared.
Note: There are never charges for extra follow-up visits (if required).
PRECONDITIONS AND RISKS
Your chest will be tender and swollen after this procedure. The extent of the swelling and bruising is dependent on whether you tend to bruise or swell easily.
Although much of the swelling and bruising will disappear in the first few weeks, it may be six months to a year before things settle into their new shape.
Risks or side effects following the procedure can include infection, a reaction to the anaesthetic, bleeding and nerve damage.
Bleeding and infection following a breast reduction are rare, but if you have had skin removed as part of the more extensive procedure, it can cause scars to widen.
This procedure does leave scars that gradually fade over time. If you have only had liposuction, these may become relatively unnoticeable. However, if tissue and skin reduction is required, the scars will be larger and more evident, and you may also find that you are left with slightly lop-sided nipples or a permanent loss of feeling in your nipples.
