Liposuction – Malaysia – Patient’s Reviews
Many people who undergo any plastic operation including Liposuction, look back on their experiences and say, “I wish I had known…” some information prior to undergoing the procedure. Now with the new era in science many undergo liposuction as easy as combing through hair, washing face, or even buying nice clothes.
Do what you want to do to be your best self (for you). Life is short. Be wise in choosing your surgeon, facility or if travelling abroad then your medical facilitator!!! Lipo can be an enjoyable experience or a disaster so choose wisely.
What is Liposuction?
WHEN TO DECIDE THAT YOU NEED Liposuction?
At Makeovervacations we understand that the liposuction journey is filled with many emotions and various decisions. Our plastic surgeon will help you decide which option is best for you:
There are three major types of liposuction.
The first one is the tumescent technique. This is when a saline solution is injected in the #skin through slit incisions. It will then allow the saline solution to diffuse through the fatty tissue. This is best for in-office surgery. This is the safest technique and will offer you the fastest recovery.
Second one: Laser assisted Lipoplasty (Cool Lipo) is the other technique that is available. Basically this will be liquefying the fat before it is sucked out.
Third one: Laser liposuction and it’s a non invasive procedure.
ON WHAT BASIS DO PLASTIC SURGEONS DECIDE YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR Liposuction?
- Medical conditions – Do you have any medical conditions that could interfere with healing after liposuction?
- Medications – Are you taking any medications, including herbal remedies or non-prescription medications, that can increase your risk for complications or that may interfere with healing?
- Cost – Can you really afford this procedure?
- Weight loss – Are you considering liposuction as a way to lose weight? Consider changing your diet and exercise regimen if you are trying to lose weight. Liposuction is not a good way to lose weight. Also regarding your current BMI if it’s over 30. There are increase risks with liposuction. There is no hard and fast rule. Every patient needs to be evaluated as an individual taking into account their anatomy, fat distribution, goals and expectations.
Also these are the ones that are NOT good candidates for Liposuction
Most women are candidates for the procedure. There are only 6 dis-qualifiers:
- Unhealthy, or have medical problems making you unfit for surgery
- People with cellulite are not good candidates for liposuction because they may develop skin irregularities in the treated area.
Smokers have a poor capacity to regenerate tissue. We recommend that a patient stops smoking at least 2 months before the procedure and abstain from even a single whiff or puff throughout the process and for 3 months after. If she cannot comply, we cannot help her.
- Aspirin and Other Over-the-Counter Food Supplements and Vitamins That May Impair Blood Clotting
We have seen disastrous results when a patient has prolonged bleeding time from long-term use of Omega 3 fatty acids, ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginger, ginseng, vitamin E, herbal tea, and green tea to name a few. It is imperative that the patient stops aspirin, all vitamins, and all herbal supplements at least 2 weeks before the procedure.
- Not realistic about what to expect. It’s good to dream, but if you are imagining all types of unrealistic visions of how this will dramatically change your life, you may not be an ideal candidate.
- Emotionally unstable.
- morbidly obese, have a lot of stretch marks, or a lot of loose skin — maybe you’re not a good candidate for liposuction and other surgical options [like a gastric bypass or body lift] should be explored.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM Liposuction
- Don’t go buy an entire new wardrobe just yet. I definitely had a shape change from 4 weeks to 11 weeks, so be patient.
- this is a [re-shaping] and contouring [of your body] — it’s not a weight loss procedure.
- it’s the best procedure to get rid of love handles — this is the fat doesn’t go away very easily with dieting, a proper diet or exercise.
- Liposuction can be done as out patient surgery.
WHAT TO NOT EXPECT
It may be difficult to have reasonable expectations after reading advertisements and looking at pictures of women and men who have had liposuction. Remember that advertising is made to make you want to purchase a product or service. Advertisements do not usually tell you about problems or shortcomings of the product or service.
- It’s not a scar free procedure. There may be scars at the site where the doctor made the cut to insert the liposuction canula. These scars are usually small and fade with time but in some people, scars may be larger or more prominent.
- It will not tighten sagging skin
- And if you want to target your belly area, our certified surgeons recommend a tummy tuck rather than liposuction. “Lipo will remove fat from under skin but will leave skin loose. A tummy tuck…will tighten your skin and muscles

YOUR GOALS AND body CHARACTERISTICS WILL DEFINE THE APPROACH TO PROCEDURE
However, it’s also vital to understand every case has it’s own approach and scenario. So it’s not accurate to compare what you read online with actual procedure. As it might only act as a generic reference.
As a body contouring tool, you should also be aware that liposuction can also be combined with other surgeries to enhance patient results. For example, liposuction is usually performed with abdominoplasty, breast reduction, body lift, thigh reduction and arm reduction as a routine part of the procedure.
Liposuction improves the contouring results from all of these procedures may may be applied more extensively to provide a more comprehensive reshaping of the back, bra roll and waist.
PREPARING FOR Liposuction
If you decide to go ahead with liposuction, your surgeon will give you instructions on how to prepare for the surgery. This may include dietary guidelines, alcohol restrictions, or taking or avoiding certain vitamins. and also these points need to be addressed with your surgeon prior to your liposuction operation:
- How soon can I exercise after surgery?
- May I see pictures of previous patients’ results?
- How long will I need to be off work?
- What are my post-op restrictions and for how long?
- What surgical lipo technique do you use?
- How soon may I shower after surgery?
- Which places need the most liposuction and can it all be done on the same day?
Chin – Fat deposits can settle under your chin – aging the face and creating a double chin. Liposuction can reveal a more defined jaw line and reduce jowls.
Breasts – Liposuction can be used to reduce the size of a woman’s bust or simply sculpt the breasts into a more desirable shape.
Hip or trochanteric area – Contouring the hip – a common area of complaint – is an effective way to improve the trouble areas and bulges that prevent being your most confident self.
Inner knee – Excess fat in the knees can be fixed with liposuction, as well. With too much fat, knees can look distorted or even lopsided. With contouring, surgeons can refresh this trouble region and give patients the desired look and shape.
Ankles – Do you desire more definition between your calf and ankle? Liposuction can be performed on the ankles to make legs appear graceful and slimmer.
Male chest – Unwanted fat on a male’s chest can be remedied with liposuction. This procedure can uncover muscle and give the chest and stomach a more defined look.
Ofcourse, Abdomen, thighs and love handles are the common ones
NOTE: We require all of our patients to get medical clearance two weeks prior to surgery. An H&P (history and physical) and a CBC blood test are the minimum requirements for healthy adults. You should stop smoking and refrain from taking aspirin products one month prior to surgery.
Warning: Do not, do not, do not, go to a doctor that does not do this as his only line of business. Do not use a pediatrician, a general doctor, an ear, nose and throat doctor – get my point?? Do not use any doctor that has added this to his practice and sandwiches your smartlipo or tumscent lipo inbetween allergy shots and annual physicals.
It is not all about the machine, but more so about the Doc. I see all forum lovers talking about the technology being used, but nothing about the provider of the service.
This video gives you an A to Z of a personalized advice on Liposuction
Benefits of Tumescent Liposuction:
- Minimally invasive treatment
- Virtually painless and safe
- Quicker recovery
- Minimal scarring
- Done under local anesthesia
Liposuctoin PROCEDURE STEPS
On the day of the liposuction surgery, the physician will mark your body with a pen to indicate where the fat is to be removed. Then you will receive anesthesia, that is medicine that prevents you from feeling pain. Some physicians use only local anesthesia, that is, anesthesia that they inject with a syringe or pump into the area where they will do the liposuction. The anesthesia medicine is injected along with a lot of fluid, usually buffered salt water and epinephrine, a drug to reduce bleeding. Large volumes of liquid may be injected, until the skin is very firm. If your physician uses only this kind of local anesthesia, also sometimes called tumescent anesthesia, then you will be awake during the procedure. Other physicians use local anesthesia and a sedative that can be taken by mouth or injected from a syringe. Still others prefer to use general anesthesia, that is to use anesthesia that will put you to sleep during the procedure. This is usually done in a hospital.
Liposuction RECOVERY – After Care
When you awaken, your procedure is completely done, even though it might feel like only moments have passed since you closed your eyes. Not so with an office procedure, which by its very nature must be done slower and takes longer. Sometimes it takes a lot longer, in the same room, as time passes in a way that is the exact opposite of that “blink” of the O.R. experience. How aggressive and definitive a fat removal and reshaping do you envision? Given the issues above, under which set of circumstances do you see your surgeon being able to do his thorough best, all the while concentrating exclusively on the sculpting and the shaping of your body?
Major concern that we address to our clients before hand is that they should know that Alcohol thins the blood, slows healing, and increases bruising. Patients should stop drinking at least 1 week before surgery, and abstain for 1 week after or longer if you are taking narcotic pain medications.
The Right Garments for Post-care
We usually tell our patients to wear something comfortable like sweat pants or a sweat shirt (depending on the area being treated). The area being treated tends to be a little swollen, constrictive apparel would be uncomfortable to the patient. Patients are sent home with compression garments; so these should be able to fit under clothing easily.
PRECONDITIONS AND RISKS – liposuction SURGERY
We minimize risks and complications of Liposuction by selecting patients carefully and always having the most skilled surgeons, physicians and nurses carry out procedures. However, despite the highest standards, complications can occur. They are rare, and most patients will not have complications, but if you have concerns about possible complications, please discuss these with your doctor.
You are at increased risk of complications if you have diabetes, poor circulation, heart, lung or liver disease, smoke, have a family history of blood clots, take certain medications, etc. You must disclose all these conditions to the surgeon before booking your liposuction surgery.
Things not to do in the first 2 weeks
There are some things you should try to avoid doing during the first 2 weeks after surgery. Your surgeon may suggest slightly different timings so check if you are unsure.
- Don’t lift your arm above the height of your shoulder or stretch behind your back
- Don’t lift anything heavier than a bag of sugar
You might not realise that some everyday things can strain your muscles. Avoid doing any of the following with your arm on the side of your surgery.
- Pushing yourself up off the bed
- Pushing doors open
- Pulling washing out of the washing machine
Avoiding these things helps your muscles to slowly stretch and heal.
Note: Our registered nursing staff will monitor you in the post-anesthesia recovery area after your surgery. Your doctor will allow you to go home after the effects of anesthesia have worn off, accompanied by our MV dedicated helper for you.
THE LESS COMMON (rare) COMPLICATIONS OF Liposuction SURGERY INCLUDES:
All surgical procedures carry some risk. Possible complications from a Liposuction include:
The largest risk is for poor scar. The scar can become thick or wide. Rarely the wound will not heal immediately. You can also have infections. The risks are significantly increased in smokers. Therefore, plastic Surgeons will not do this surgery until you stop smoking.
These all may sound scary, but complications are rare. Our surgeons can answer any questions you may have about the risks and can put them in perspective to ease your mind or help you decide not to proceed with surgery.
Do Liposuction Give Long-Lasting Results?
Liposuction has been shown to be effective and long lasting. That said, no surgical procedure can prevent an individual from gaining weight. If one’s caloric intake is greater than what they burn in exercise they will gain weight. So the key to preserve a permanent effect is through maintaining weight.
